Background

With the continuous upgrading of EMC standards in aviation, railway, industrial electronics and other fields, accurate measurement of alternating current and transient pulse current has become a critical part of verifying the electromagnetic compatibility of equipment during conducted susceptibility (immunity) testing. Test scenarios impose stringent requirements on frequency range, response speed, measurement accuracy, and electrical isolation of current measurement instruments. A professional current monitoring device that can accurately reproduce waveforms, cover a wide frequency range, and withstand high current surges has become an essential tool in any EMC test system.

Technical Challenges

Current measurement in the industry today faces multiple pain points: narrow frequency coverage that cannot simultaneously handle low-frequency AC signals and high-frequency pulses; waveform distortion under high-current surges that prevents faithful reproduction of the current signal; lack of effective electrical isolation between the measurement and test circuits, creating safety hazards; and insufficient rise time response that fails to capture nanosecond‑level transient pulses, making it difficult to meet standard test requirements.

Solution

3CTEST CCM 0210M Clip-on Broadband Current Monitoring Probe

Designed based on the electromagnetic coupling measurement principle, the CCM 0210M strictly complies with various EMC test standards, addressing industry measurement pain points and delivering a high-precision, high-reliability, and high-safety solution for measuring broadband AC currents and transient pulse currents.

Key Product Advantages

Full broadband coverage – meets standard test requirements

Perfectly meets the measurement needs for AC signals from 100 Hz to 10 MHz and time‑domain pulse currents with a rise time greater than 35 ns. Fully compliant with test specifications for AC signals up to 10 MHz and nanosecond‑level transient pulses as required by various EMC standards. Primarily used in conducted susceptibility (immunity) testing.

High-sensitivity, distortion-free measurement – true signal reproduction

Converts the current signal into a voltage signal via electromagnetic coupling and delivers it to a recording device. Nominal sensitivity 0.01 V/A (0.005 V/A when terminated with 50 Ω), output impedance 50 Ω. Provides distortion‑free waveforms throughout, accurately reproducing both time‑domain and frequency‑domain characteristics of the measured current.

High peak current withstand – suitable for demanding test scenarios

Supports maximum peak current of 20,000 A and maximum continuous RMS current of 120 A, with an Amp‑second product of 1.6 A·s. Easily handles severe test conditions such as high‑current transient pulses and sustained high currents, meeting extreme testing requirements across multiple scenarios.

Isolated, non-contact design – safe, convenient, and easy to use

The measurement circuit is physically isolated from the current‑carrying conductor, greatly enhancing test safety. The clip‑on design with a 40 mm inner aperture accommodates various cable sizes. Standard BNC connector for plug‑and‑play operation, and the unit weighs only approx. 3 kg, making it portable and easy to deploy quickly.

Wide temperature range, high reliability – suitable for diverse industries

Operating temperature range 0°C to 65°C. Strong environmental adaptability and stable, reliable performance. Can be widely used in industries with extremely high reliability requirements such as aviation and railway, meeting the needs of various complex test environments.
