ISO 11452-3 is one of the test methods in the ISO 11452 series and describes the use of a transverse electromagnetic cell to expose automotive components to narrowband radiated electromagnetic energy. The cell produces a reasonably uniform field over a limited volume, which makes it an efficient choice for small to medium sized electronic modules, and the method is considerably less expensive than testing in an anechoic chamber. The standard defines the characteristics of the cell, the usable test volume, the relationship between the field strength and the power fed to the cell, and the procedure for calibrating that relationship before a test is performed. It specifies how the equipment under test is positioned and connected, how representative the load and cable harness must be, and how the field is monitored during the test. Because the immunity of a module depends heavily on its wiring, the standard places particular emphasis on the construction of the test harness and on the definition of the reference ground plane and the grounding of the module.
Then TEM Series Open Transverse Electromagnetic Cell is designed for automotive component immunity testing and complies with the requirements of ISO 11452-3 and IEC 61000-4-20.
