EN 300 329 is an ETSI standard that specifies the electromagnetic compatibility conditions for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications equipment. DECT is the technology behind the cordless telephones and the wireless PBX handsets widely used in European offices and homes, and the devices combine a radio transceiver, a charging circuit connected to the mains and a user interface in a single small enclosure, so that coupling between the radio and the power circuits is unavoidable. The standard identifies the ports of the equipment, defines the applicable emission and immunity requirements and selects the appropriate test methods from the common EMC series, adding the specific conditions that arise from the way a cordless terminal is used: it is held against the head, placed on a charging cradle and moved between rooms while in operation. The test set-up, the operating modes and the performance criteria for a cordless link are specified.
