GB 4943.1-2022 specifies safety requirements for electrical and electronic equipment within the fields of audio, video, information and communication technology, and business and office machines, with rated voltage not exceeding 600 V. It is a mandatory Chinese national standard that replaces both GB 4943.1-2011 and GB 8898-2011, and is modified from IEC 62368-1:2018. The standard adopts a hazard-based safety engineering approach, identifying energy sources within equipment and prescribing safeguards according to energy source classification. It addresses six categories of hazard: electric shock, fire, excessive temperature, mechanical injury, radiation, and chemical hazards, and is the unified basis for compulsory certification (CCC) of AV/IT/communication products in China.
