GB/T 15283 was the Chinese standard for class 0.5, 1 and 2 alternating-current watthour meters, adopted identically from the corresponding international document. It applied to induction meters for the measurement of alternating-current energy in the range from 45 Hz to 65 Hz and covered their type examination together with the sub-assemblies and the current transformers that may be incorporated in them. The standard classified meters by accuracy class and specified the limits of error at each class, the starting current, the condition of no-load creep, and the insulation and temperature rise requirements, along with the test conditions, the reference standards and the method of judging the result. Certain special constructions, including meters with maximum demand indicators and remote metering devices, lay outside its scope. The standard was withdrawn in January 2009 and its subject matter passed to the metering equipment series, so the page is retained for older specifications, but it is not a basis for new approvals.
