The Chinese relay standard that covered the power frequency disturbance test was withdrawn in 2017, a date worth noting because reports issued under it are still attached to protection equipment installed in Chinese substations during the preceding decade. The test it defined addressed the situation in which a relay is installed near a conductor carrying heavy current, or has its auxiliary wiring routed alongside a power cable, and therefore receives an induced voltage at the supply frequency on its signal circuits. When the withdrawal took effect, the requirement did not disappear from Chinese procurement: the disturbance programme for protection equipment continued to be specified through the remaining parts of the same series and through the technical specifications of the network operators, and a current type test report for a device intended for the Chinese market normally includes the test under whichever designation the specification now uses. The withdrawn number should be treated as historical evidence rather than as a live requirement.
