The Chinese part of the EMC test series covering fields radiated from a source held close to the equipment is of growing importance in China, where the use of handheld radio transmitters, mobile payment terminals and wireless industrial remote controls has expanded very rapidly and where equipment is frequently installed in conditions of close proximity that a far field test does not represent. The requirement is imposed through the Chinese product standards for information technology equipment and for household appliances, and through the technical specifications for the industrial control equipment used in environments where portable transmitters are carried by operators. This entry was added to the site at the request of the equipment manufacturer concerned, and it records the Chinese designation under which a domestic specification will cite the test, together with the fact that the Chinese text follows the international method and therefore specifies near field measurement with a calibrated probe rather than a conventional far field technique.
