This Chinese standard carries the transient conduction test applied along the supply lines of a road vehicle, adopted from the international document, and in China it is applied within the qualification regime operated by the vehicle manufacturers, who issue their own component specifications that select the pulses and the severity levels appropriate to each mounting position. The national standard therefore provides the test method and the waveform definitions, while the applicable requirement comes from the customer specification, which is why a supplier working for several Chinese manufacturers will be asked to test to the same method at different levels. The pulses themselves arise from the ordinary operation of the vehicle electrical system, and the load dump condition is the one that most often forces a design change in modules connected directly to the supply.
