GB/T 17215.301 is the part of the Chinese metering equipment series that states the particular requirements for electricity meters. Where the general part of the series provides the common framework, this part adds the requirements that apply specifically to the meter as a product and refers to the further parts that define the accuracy behaviour of each class. It specifies the constructional requirements for the case, the terminal arrangement, the marking that must appear on the meter and on the nameplate, and the information that must be supplied in the documentation. It also defines the tests that a meter must pass, which include the insulation test, the measurement of the influence quantities such as voltage, frequency and temperature, the verification of the register and the display, and the tests that establish the immunity of the meter to disturbances on the supply and to electromagnetic fields. Together with the accuracy parts, it forms the basis for type approval of meters in China.
